DAIKIN conducted the "DAIKIN World Air Survey" in 2024. The survey primarily highlights how people in 12 cities around the world perceive and use air conditioners in their daily lives, exploring the differences and similarities between cities.

Air conditioning, invented in the US about 100 years ago, serves as essential social infrastructure for a comfortable and healthy life. In July 2024, the global average temperature reached its highest value ever recorded*1, making air conditioning increasingly important. Against this backdrop, Daikin aims to raise awareness of air conditioning and air among people around the world.

Daikin provides ideal air for every region in 175 countries and regions. In its efforts to realize "Perfecting the Air" around the world, the company continues to grapple with the diverse environments and needs of different countries and contributes to the sustainable adoption of air conditioning.

Summary: On average, tropical cities such as Bangkok & New Delhi use AC for a full 12 months, while European cities (Paris & Madrid) use it for around 3-4 months during peak summer.

In tropical and subtropical cities such as Bangkok (Thailand), New Delhi (India), and Houston (USA), more than 88% of respondents use their AC almost every day throughout the year. In contrast, in European cities such as Paris and Madrid, AC use is concentrated from June to August when heatwaves strike.

About the Cities Surveyed

How air conditioners are used varies widely depending on the local climate, housing styles, and other factors, including average air temperature and the highest and lowest temperatures throughout the year. For this survey, we selected the cities to be surveyed with a balance of climates and geographies in mind.
