DAIKIN stands out as the leading corporation demonstrating its commitment to society, particularly vulnerable workers in Indonesia. This was announced by Zainudin, Director of Membership at the Indonesian Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), in Jakarta today (March 20).
The statement refers to the social action undertaken by this Japanese air conditioning solutions group, PT. Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia, which involves providing employment social security for vulnerable worker communities across Indonesia. “DAIKIN’s dedication has set a new record as the corporation with the largest contribution to vulnerable workers in Indonesia to date,” stated Zainudin.
This social security provision for vulnerable workers is implemented through DAIKIN’s social initiative pillar in Indonesia, Roda-Roda Ramadan. Previously, DAIKIN’s annual Ramadan agenda focused on distributing nine essential food packages to needy communities near DAIKIN representative offices nationwide. This year’s shift in focus is driven by a deeper concern for social issues closely tied to workers’ livelihoods.
“As informal or self-employed workers with low income levels, vulnerable workers face high economic risks,” said Too Wee Yun, President Director of PT. Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia. “We hope that this employment social security support brings happiness to these vulnerable workers, who often serve as the backbone of their families’ economies.”
As a tangible commitment, PT. Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia allocated IDR 2.5 billion to support the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s Vulnerable Worker Protection Program. These funds were converted into work accident and death insurance coverage for 12,401 vulnerable workers across Indonesia.
Also present at the handover ceremony were Budi Mulia, Director of PT. Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia, and Giam Tee Kiat, President Director of PT. Daikin Applied Solutions Indonesia, representing DAIKIN’s business groups focused on product sales and after-sales services in Indonesia. They expressed their full support for this social initiative. “This social contribution aligns with the strong trust placed in us by the Indonesian public, reinforcing DAIKIN as the preferred choice for air conditioning solutions,” said Budi Mulia.
He further noted that this effort resonates with DAIKIN’s core operating philosophy in every country it serves, reflecting the company’s mission to create positive impacts within local communities.
Regarding PT. Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to vulnerable workers, Zainudin emphasized that this initiative reflects a synergistic collaboration between the private sector and the government in addressing large-scale social issues that still require attention from various stakeholders. “We hope that PT. Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia’s support will inspire broader collaborations among all parties, fostering a major movement dedicated to supporting vulnerable workers in Indonesia,” concluded Zainudin.
