Samarinda, December 12 – As part of the company’s efforts to expand awareness of green building development in East Kalimantan, PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia (DAIKIN) held the seminar titled “DAIKIN Green Building Solution: Smart and Efficient Cooling Systems” in Samarinda today (December 10).
Held at one of the function rooms at Hotel Haris Samarinda, DAIKIN’s seriousness for this seminar was evident in the comprehensive materials presented. Beyond discussing the application of green building concepts in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) and East Kalimantan, the seminar featured presentations on government green building regulations as well as DAIKIN’s air conditioning solutions designed to support green building designs.
“This seminar is a concrete and sustainable step by DAIKIN in supporting the government’s efforts to create a sustainable environment through the expanded implementation of green building in Indonesia’s development projects,” stated Shinji Miyata, President Director of PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia, during the event. Aligning with the presented materials, he noted that DAIKIN’s dedication to hosting this seminar is reflected in the diverse panelists representing various stakeholders involved in implementing green building practices in East Kalimantan.
As the keynote speaker, Dr. Ir. Desiderius Viby Indrayana, ST., MM., MT., IPU., ASEAN Eng., ACPE, Director of Building, Area, and Urban Management at the IKN Authority (OIKN), shared insights on the implementation of green building standards in IKN and their impact on surrounding areas in East Kalimantan. Meanwhile, Mr. Petra Putra Kaloeti, S.Si., MPWK, from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing’s East Kalimantan Building Development, Infrastructure, and Area Management Office, presented on applicable green building regulations in accordance with the Minister of Public Works and Housing Regulation No. 21 of 2021 Concerning the Assessment of Green Building Performance. To complement the session, DAIKIN speakers provided an overview of the technologies and innovations behind various DAIKIN air conditioning systems designed to support the realization of green buildings.
In line with this overarching goal, the seminar attracted two main groups of participants. The first consisted of relevant staff from the East Kalimantan Provincial Department of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), who serve as both organizers and regulatory authorities for construction projects. Additionally, DAIKIN invited contractors, consultants, and developers actively involved in various construction projects across East Kalimantan.
This DAIKIN seminar received strong support from the local government, notably demonstrated by the attendance of Dr. A.M. Fitra Firnanda, S.T., MM, Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Department of Public Works and Housing and Spatial Planning (PERA). His presence served as an official representation of East Kalimantan Governor H. Rudy Mas’ud, S.E., M.E., who is widely recognized for actively promoting green energy and sustainable development as the primary focus of East Kalimantan’s economic transformation.
“As part of the East Kalimantan government, we highly appreciate this initiative. It serves as a venue for networking and knowledge sharing, allowing us to gain valuable insights from the speakers to enhance human resources in creating sustainable development,” said Dr. A.M. Fitra Firnanda.
Further highlighting the seminar’s objectives, and alongside the extensive material presentations and green building discussions, DAIKIN presented plaques to four buildings in East Kalimantan that have successfully integrated green building principles into their construction by utilizing smart and energy-efficient air conditioning systems. These four buildings include the East Kalimantan Provincial Governor’s Office, the East Kalimantan Provincial Inspectorate Building, Mulawarman University, and the Balikpapan District Attorney’s Office.
“Presenting these awards is DAIKIN’s appreciation for the tangible efforts made by all parties in realizing green building principles through the adoption of smart and energy-efficient air conditioning solutions in these structures,” added Shinji Miyata. He further expressed his hope that this recognition would inspire all relevant stakeholders to further expand the presence of green buildings in East Kalimantan. “In line with East Kalimantan’s efforts to develop sustainably through the introduction of more environmentally friendly economic-supporting buildings, DAIKIN is ready to provide support through various innovative, smart, and energy-efficient air conditioning solutions,” concluded Shinji Miyata.
