Jakarta, February 23 – PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia continues to demonstrate its initiative in human resource development. Through efforts to bridge the gap between industry and education, the Japanese air conditioning solution specialist hosted a special DAIKIN Goes To School class at SMKN 29 Jakarta today (Feb 23).
Attended by students from the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering program, the session covered insights into the refrigeration and HVAC industry, alongside soft skills training and career orientation. “Through this engagement between industry professionals and educators, we hope to inspire our students regarding their future studies and careers in the refrigeration and air conditioning field,” said David Firdaus, Talent & Development Manager at PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia.
The curriculum introduced fundamental principles related to improving indoor air quality, as well as the technologies behind various devices that serve as indoor climate control solutions. All materials were delivered interactively, encouraging student participation through feedback and discussion.
Beyond sharing knowledge on the latest developments and innovations in HVAC solutions, Daikin also provided an overview of career paths in refrigeration and air conditioning engineering. According to David Firdaus, this includes emphasizing the essential soft skills required in the professional workplace.
Additionally, the event featured an experience-sharing session led by a Daikin staff member who is also an alumnus. “The entire program was designed to equip students with a strong foundation, providing them with a clearer perspective to boost their motivation when they begin their careers after graduation,” added David Firdaus.
David Firdaus further noted that the DAIKIN Goes To School program is not a one-time event. Designed as a sustainable initiative, it will continue to roll out across various vocational high schools throughout Indonesia. This ongoing effort will further enrich Daikin’s existing collaborative partnerships with educational institutions nationwide.
Collaborating with vocational schools is not new for the Japanese HVAC solution specialist. Previously, Daikin signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 34 vocational high schools to foster joint initiatives. From curriculum development and training to competency assessments, all activities are strategically aligned to build students’ practical skills for the workforce.
“As a leader in Indonesia’s HVAC solution industry, it is our responsibility to contribute more significantly to workforce competency development. We are actively pursuing this through various educational collaborations such as this one,” concluded David Firdaus.
