Jakarta, December 13 – Beyond its focus on innovation and market expansion for advanced air conditioning solutions in Indonesia, PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia actively contributes to national workforce development initiatives. The company has reaffirmed its commitment to assisting the government in elevating the technical expertise of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering professionals nationwide.
This initiative was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday (December 13). Hosted under the Directorate General of Vocational Training and Productivity, the signing ceremony brought together 14 companies from various industrial sectors.
Notably, Daikin stands as the sole representative from the air conditioning solutions industry participating in this collaboration. "As a leader in air conditioning solutions, we recognize our responsibility to play a larger role in sharing Daikin’s technical knowledge to strengthen Indonesia’s human capital," stated Budi Mulia, Director of PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia.
Daikin’s dedication to advancing Indonesia’s human resources, particularly in refrigeration and air conditioning technologies, is not unprecedented. Previously, the manufacturer—renowned for its residential and commercial air conditioning products—has partnered with the Ministry of Education and Culture to enhance the technical competencies of Vocational High School (SMK) students in HVAC-related fields.
Unlike the earlier educational partnership, this MoU with the Ministry of Manpower specifically targets Job Training Centers nationwide. Spanning three years from its signing, the agreement outlines six key scopes: conducting training needs analyses, developing programs, designing curricula and training modules, and providing necessary training facilities and infrastructure.
Furthermore, this collaboration emphasizes upskilling both teaching staff and trainees. In addition to deploying Daikin experts as trainers at various vocational centers, the company will deliver specialized training programs for instructors. To complement these efforts, Daikin will also support the implementation of competency-based certification programs.
According to Budi Mulia, continuously enhancing the proficiency of cooling and air conditioning engineering technicians remains a core strategic focus for Daikin. He emphasized that skill development extends beyond customer satisfaction; it is intrinsically linked to environmental sustainability. For instance, proper handling and recovery of refrigerants prevent harmful emissions that contribute to environmental degradation.
