Efforts to maintain and enhance the competencies of Field Service Engineers and technicians are integral to strengthening PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia’s (DAIKIN) position as a trusted air conditioning solution provider in Indonesia. “Beyond specialized, year-round training programs, we also foster skill development through internal competitions that rigorously assess our team’s expertise,” said Ruli Sudana, Assistant General Manager of After Sales Service at DAIKIN.

This was evident during the event held on May 27, where DAIKIN organized the Service Skill Competition to evaluate the skills of selected Field Service Engineers and technicians from various representative offices across Indonesia. Thirty participants competed in the event, which took place at the DAIKIN National Training Center in Sunter, North Jakarta.

Challenging participants in both theoretical knowledge and technical proficiency, the competition integrated written examinations with hands-on practical assessments conducted to global standards. In addition to brazing and troubleshooting—which tested their ability to accurately diagnose issues and implement product repairs—competitors were also evaluated on their understanding and execution of refrigerant recovery procedures.

Beyond the awards for the winners, what truly sets this competition apart is the exceptional opportunity for champions to advance to a higher tier of competition. This refers to the upcoming Service Skill Competition in August 2023, where Field Service Engineers and technicians from all DAIKIN affiliates across the Asia-Oceania region will compete. This tiered competition structure was designed by DAIKIN to ensure consistent competency standards across its global network.

According to him, DAIKIN Indonesia has previously produced Field Service Engineers who have won similar inter-affiliate competitions among DAIKIN branches worldwide. “This achievement underscores our serious commitment to delivering exceptional service to Indonesian consumers while upholding DAIKIN’s global standards,” added Ruli Sudana.
