PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia (DAIKIN) once again hosts the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Awards. Marking its third edition, DAIKIN presents this year’s competition under the theme RE:IMAGINE. “This theme perfectly captures its core spirit. It aims to serve as a platform for architectural and interior design works born from reimagining how air conditioning comfort and overall interior decor can unite as a cohesive whole within a space’s aesthetic,” states Ching Khim Huat, President Director of PT. Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia.
With registration opening on June 1, DAIKIN has implemented several enhancements. These include broadening participant eligibility to welcome student entries and introducing a new category for commercial Food & Beverage (F&B) building designs, expanding beyond the previous focus primarily on residential projects.

Meanwhile, to maintain the event’s prestige within the architecture and interior design communities, DAIKIN collaborates with major professional associations representing these fields: the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) and the Indonesian Interior Designers Association (HDII) Jakarta. To further elevate the competition’s stature, renowned figures from architecture and interior design have been appointed to the jury panel alongside DAIKIN’s own evaluators.
As a flagship annual corporate initiative, the DAIKIN Designer Award was originally conceived to create a shared vision among architecture and interior design professionals regarding the ideal home. It goes beyond mere aesthetics by integrating comprehensive air conditioning solutions that support comfort and health, harmoniously complementing the room’s overall interior decor.

Widely recognized as a global AC specialist with nearly a century of experience, DAIKIN has developed dedicated technologies and innovations to support this vision of the ideal home. This is realized through the DAIKIN Home Central AC series, which simplifies piping installation by allowing a single Outdoor Unit to connect to multiple Indoor Units simultaneously, tailored to their cooling capacity.
Unlike Single-Split AC systems, DAIKIN Home Central offers a diverse range of Indoor Unit designs. These are intentionally crafted to seamlessly blend into and add an elegant touch to the interiors of various spaces according to their specific functions. For user health protection, the system maintains optimal humidity levels and eliminates harmful airborne particles through multi-layer filtration.

DAIKIN’s readiness as a technology provider is expected to foster deeper collaboration with architecture and interior design professionals, further realizing Indonesia’s vision of the ideal home—one that prioritizes comfortable, healthy indoor air quality without compromising aesthetic appeal. “The continuous growth of this collaboration is essential to broaden inspiration across Indonesian society about the ideal home vision through the diverse works emerging from it,” adds Ching Khim Huat.
Regarding this year’s DAIKIN Designer Awards, there are six main categories. Beyond dividing participants into student and professional groups, DAIKIN also categorizes entries based on completed projects utilizing DAIKIN Home Central AC products and conceptual design competitions, with evaluations split between architectural and interior design works.
Adding to the event’s prestige and appeal, two prominent figures in architecture and interior design have joined the jury alongside DAIKIN’s evaluators. Tan Tik Lam, a renowned architect with numerous national and international awards, will serve as a juror for the finished project category. For the conceptual category, DAIKIN has entrusted Alex Bayusaputro, a leading figure in Indonesian interior design known for his array of international accolades.
In addition to these two industry leaders, DAIKIN has also invited Sarwendah. Recognized as one of Indonesia’s prominent celebrities, Sarwendah will represent the millennial perspective. Specifically, she will serve as a special juror for two categories: conceptual interior design for residential spaces and a special F&B commercial building category curated by Sarwendah. Entries in this special category will be designed based on the actual requirements of her own property.
In total, 16 winning titles will be awarded following the direct judging process scheduled for late October. All awards will be presented during the DAIKIN Designer Awards 2023 Appreciation Night, set to take place on November 24.
