Daikin Visits Cianjur: Disaster Relief Efforts Support Recovery for Earthquake-Affected Communities

As part of its tangible corporate social responsibility initiatives, PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia (Daikin) has provided donations to support communities affected by the Cianjur earthquake. In collaboration with the Benih Baik Indonesia Foundation, this assistance comes in the form of hundreds of essential food packages.

“We hope this aid will serve as vital support for the Cianjur earthquake-affected communities during the recovery phase currently being coordinated by the government alongside various other stakeholders,” stated Ching Khim Huat, President Director of Daikin Indonesia. Symbolically, the handover of these essential food packages was presented to Andy F Noya, co-founder of the Benih Baik Indonesia Foundation, at Daikin’s headquarters in Jakarta recently.

Following the emergency response period, which concludes on December 20, joint personnel from various government agencies and partner organizations are now accelerating debris clearance operations. Amidst this recovery process, while some residents remain in evacuation centers, limited access due to the earthquake means that communities in surrounding areas still require ongoing support to meet their daily needs.

Building on the previous symbolic handover, Daikin directly distributed these essential food packages to residents in several earthquake-affected zones today (December 20). “Going directly to the disaster site gives us the opportunity to better understand the current living conditions of the community, helping us identify potential avenues for future support,” said Alip Haryanto, Branch Manager for Daikin’s Bandung region and surrounding areas.

Leading the direct distribution efforts today (December 20), Alip Haryanto noted that the Daikin Disaster Relief food package distribution covers three locations in Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency: specifically, the villages of Cibulakan, Benjot, and Cijedil.

“We recognize that the scale of this disaster means recovery will not be immediate, requiring a collective effort from both the community and government entities,” added Alip Haryanto. He further expressed his hope that this direct aid distribution “will serve as the beginning of future synergies with more partners in restoring the lives of Cianjur and surrounding communities affected by the earthquake,” concluded Alip Haryanto.
